PASALI’s operations have diversified to the development and fabrication of farm implements, to installing motorless hydraulic rampumps in remote, mountainous areas, to training farmer households to plant rice with the climate change mitigating System of Rice Intensification, to implementing a CO2 mitigating agroforestry scheme for Moro and IP communities, to an organic crophouse system that grows lettuce in the lowlands for the occupational therapy of elderly and children-in-conflict with the law, to the city-wide advocacy of children and elderly rights of the urban poor in General Santos. The most recent scheme currently being implemented called the Rice Contract Farm, addresses the issue of mortgage debt or ‘sangla’ within an environmentally sustainable rice production business. Central to all its efforts is the inclusion of young Filipinos who take key roles in all operations. See Facebook for more PASALI news and pictures.
